86-DOS

Alright kiddo, have you heard of computers before? They're really cool machines that can help us do lots of things like play games, watch videos, and so much more!

But in order for the computer to work, it needs something called an operating system. This is like the conductor of an orchestra - it tells all the different parts of the computer what to do so they can work together.

Now, a long time ago, there was a guy named Tim Paterson who made an operating system called 86-DOS. It was named after the computer chip that it worked on, called the 8086.

But why did Tim Paterson make 86-DOS? Well, at the time there was a big company called IBM who needed an operating system for their new personal computer. They asked another company called Microsoft to make one, but Microsoft couldn't do it in time. So instead, they bought the rights to 86-DOS and made some changes to it to create their own operating system called MS-DOS.

MS-DOS became really popular and was used on millions of computers for many years. So even though 86-DOS isn't used anymore, it was an important step in the history of computers that helped make them easier to use and more powerful.
