A Song of Ice and Fire is a series of fantasy books written by George R. R. Martin. It tells the story of a world called Westeros, where seven noble families fight each other for control of the Iron Throne. Each family is represented by a symbol: a direwolf for House Stark, a lion for House Lannister, a stag for House Baratheon, a fish for House Tully, an eagle for House Arryn, a dragon for House Targaryen, and a rose for House Tyrell. In addition, there are forces of nature in Westeros, like ice (the White Walkers) and fire (dragons), that make the story more interesting. The books follow the characters as they struggle for power, love and justice.
