ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

ASCE Library

The ASCE library is a place where people can find books, articles, and other information about civil engineering. Civil engineers design and build things like roads, bridges, and buildings to make our cities and communities work better.

Imagine you are building a tower out of blocks. First, you need to plan how tall you want the tower to be, and how wide the base needs to be so it doesn't fall over. Civil engineers do the same thing, but instead of blocks, they use materials like steel and concrete.

The ASCE library has books and articles written by civil engineers that explain how to design and build structures like towers, bridges, and highways. These books also talk about how to make sure these structures are safe and won't have problems in the future.

Another important thing that the ASCE library does is collect information from previous projects. This means that if a civil engineer built a bridge in the past, the ASCE library can save the plans and notes for that bridge so that future engineers can learn from it and improve upon it.

So, the ASCE library is like a big bookshelf that has all the information that civil engineers need to design and build structures in a safe and effective way.
