ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

ASME

ASME stands for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. They are a group of people who work together to make sure that machines and other mechanical things are designed and built safely. This means they come up with rules and standards that companies have to follow when they create things like cars, airplanes, and even things like coffee makers and blenders.

Think of it like this: you know how your mom and dad have rules they want you to follow so that you stay safe and healthy? Well, ASME does the same thing but for machines. They want to make sure that everything works the way it's supposed to and that you won't get hurt using it.

Some of the things ASME does include inspecting machines to make sure they are safe, creating guidelines for how machines should be designed, and helping engineers and scientists work together. This way, everyone can make sure that machines do what they are supposed to do without any accidents or problems.
