Abortion in Japan

Abortion in Japan is when a pregnant woman decides she doesn't want to have a baby and goes to a doctor to remove the fetus (the baby that's growing in her belly). The decision to have an abortion can be very difficult, and it's usually made because the woman isn't ready or able to have a baby.

In Japan, abortions are legal, although there are some rules that must be followed. To have an abortion, a woman needs to go to a doctor, and the doctor will talk to her about her reasons for wanting to end the pregnancy. The doctor will also make sure the woman is less than 22 weeks pregnant, which is when the fetus is still very small and hasn't yet developed into a full-grown baby. Doctors can only perform abortions after the 22nd week in cases where the woman's health is in danger or when the fetus has a serious medical condition.

Abortion can be done in different ways. One way is through a medication called the abortion pill, which is taken early in pregnancy and causes the fetus to detach from the uterus. Another way is through a surgical procedure called suction abortion, where a small tube is inserted into the uterus to remove the fetus.

In Japan, there is some stigma and shame around abortion, and it's not always talked about openly. However, there are clinics and organizations that offer counseling and support for women who are considering or have gone through an abortion. It's important for women to have access to safe, legal abortions if they want or need them.
