Abundances of the elements (data page)

The abundances of the elements is a way of looking at how much of each element is present in the world. Each element is made up of tiny little pieces (atoms) and these atoms are put together to make things like rocks, plants, and animals. The amount of each element in nature is different, and the abundance of an element is a way to measure how much of that element is found in nature. For example, one element, Oxygen, is the most abundant element in the universe, making up almost 20% of all atoms. On the other hand, elements like Gold are much rarer, only making up 0.003% of all atoms. The data page is a chart of different elements and how much of each element is present in the world.
