ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Accessibility of United States state law

Okay kiddo, do you know what a law is? It's like a set of rules that everyone has to follow, so that we can all be safe and happy living together.

In the United States, we have 50 different states, and each state has its own set of laws. Some laws are the same in every state, like you can't steal or hurt someone on purpose. But some laws are different, like how fast you're allowed to drive on a certain road or what kind of animals you're allowed to have as pets.

Now, it's very important that everyone knows what the laws are, so that we can follow them and stay out of trouble. But sometimes, the laws are written in really big and complicated words that are hard to understand.

That's where the idea of accessibility comes in. It means making something easier to use or understand. So, people who work with state laws have been trying to make them more accessible for everyone. They've been doing things like:

- Writing laws in simpler language that's easier to understand
- Making laws available online or in libraries, so that people can look them up easily
- Providing translations of laws into different languages, so that people who speak different languages can understand them too

By making state laws more accessible, it helps everyone follow the rules and stay out of trouble. It also makes it easier for people to know their rights and advocate for themselves if they ever need to.
