ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Accord (coalition)

Imagine you and your friends want to play a game, but you all have different ideas about what game to play. Instead of getting upset and not playing at all, you decide to come up with a compromise.

This is what an accord or coalition is like in politics. When different political parties or groups have different ideas about how to do things, they can sometimes come together and create a plan that everyone can agree on. This way, they can work together to try and make things happen.

For example, imagine one political party wants to raise taxes to pay for better schools, but another party doesn't think that's a good idea. Instead of getting stuck and not making any progress, the two parties could create an accord and come up with a plan to fund schools in a way that works for everyone.

An accord or coalition is a way for different groups to work together and get things done, even if they don't always agree on everything.
