Acequia is a system of channels used to move water from place to place. It was invented by the Spanish and its been used for centuries in the Southwest of the U.S. and South America. The channels are usually dug into the ground and use gravity to carry water from a source, usually a stream or river, to people's homes, farms, and ranches. The water can be used for drinking, cleaning, or growing crops, and it is often the only way to get water for miles and miles.
