Acrolein

Acrolein is a chemical that can be found in some things we use every day. It usually looks like a clear or slightly yellow liquid and it smells really strong and bad, like burnt toast or rotten vegetables.

Acrolein is sometimes made when things get really hot, like when you burn your toast in the toaster or when you cook meat on a hot grill. It can also be found in cigarette smoke and car exhaust.

When people breathe in acrolein, it can cause them to cough, wheeze, or even have trouble breathing. It can also irritate people's eyes, skin, and nose. That's why it's important to try to avoid breathing in too much acrolein.

Scientists are still studying acrolein to learn more about how it works and what we can do to protect ourselves from it. Some people are working on developing new ways to reduce the amount of acrolein that's released into the air, so we can all breathe a little easier.
