Actus Essendi

Actus essendi is a Latin phrase that means "act of being." It is a philosophical concept which states that things in existence (i.e. animals, plants, people) have an inner ability to sustain their existence. This ability is called existence, or actus essendi. When something has existence, it is able to stay alive and keep its form. Existence is an inner power that things have from within themselves, and not from outside forces.
