ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Acylation

Okay kiddo, so acylation is when we take a molecule called an acid (like vinegar) and we add it to another molecule to change it. This process changes the other molecule by adding a group of atoms called an acyl group.

Think of it like adding a new hat to your favorite teddy bear. You are changing the way your teddy looks by adding something new, just like acylation changes the way a molecule looks.

Acylation is useful for making new medicines, fragrances, flavors, and other useful products. It is a way to change molecules and make them do something new and different.

So acylation is like dressing up molecules in new clothes, which can make them more useful!
