Adaptive optics help us to see things that are much farther away or much smaller by using technology that can change and adjust the shape of a mirror or lens. Think about a telescope that tilt and adjusts when the wind blows. Adaptive optics do the same thing, but using special technologies that help us move the telescope more quickly and accurately according to the speed and direction of the wind. That way, we can still see things that are very far away and small, even when the wind is blowing.
