Adela Sloss Vento was a United States Congresswoman from Minnesota. She was elected to the House of Representatives in 1992 and served from 1993 to 2009. She was the first Hispanic woman to serve in Congress from the state of Minnesota. She fought for workers' rights, education reform and women's rights, and supported issues such as minimum wage increases and organized labor. She was a strong advocate for the rights of immigrants and made sure their voices were heard within the House. She was a champion for those in her district and was a tireless worker on their behalf.
