Adoption and Safe Families Act

Okay kiddo, imagine you have a friend whose parents can't take care of them, and they need to find a new family to live with. That's where adoption comes in. Adoption is when a child goes to live with a new family forever.

Now, the Adoption and Safe Families Act (ASFA) is a law that helps kids who are in the foster care system find permanent homes faster. The law makes sure that people who want to adopt a child have their homes and backgrounds checked to make sure they will provide a safe and loving environment for the child.

The law also says that if a child is in foster care for a long time, the government has to make a plan to find them a permanent home. They can't just keep moving the child from one foster home to another without figuring out a way to give them a forever family.

The Adoption and Safe Families Act helps kids have a better chance of finding a family that will take care of them, and they won't have to worry about moving around anymore.
