Advanced life support

Advanced Life Support (ALS) is medical help given to people when they are very sick or badly hurt. It is more advanced than Basic Life Support (BLS), meaning the medical staff need to have special training and use special machines to help the patient. Advanced Life Support is used when a patient needs help breathing or needs their heart or other organs to work better than they can on their own. The medical staff use things like tubes and machines to help the patient stay alive.
