Advocacy journalism

Okay kiddo, so you know how reporters write stories about the news and try to be unbiased? Well, advocacy journalism is a little different. Advocacy journalism means that the reporter has a certain point of view or opinion about something and they use their writing to try to persuade others to think the same way.

Let's say there's a reporter who really cares about protecting the environment. They might write stories about how harmful pollution is and how we need to take action to stop it. They might talk to scientists who study the environment and include their opinions in their story. And they might even write stories that are critical of companies or politicians who are not doing enough to protect the environment.

So you see, advocacy journalism is when reporters take a stance on something and try to use their writing to make a change. It's different from regular news reporting because the goal is not just to inform people about what's happening, but to try to get people to take action or think about something in a different way.
