Aeneas Coffey

Aeneas Coffey was a man who made a special kind of machine that helps make alcohol. You know how grown-ups like to drink things like wine and beer? Well, sometimes they want to make A LOT of it, and Aeneas Coffey's machine makes that possible.

The machine is called a "continuous still", and it's like a big magic box that takes in things like corn or barley and turns it into a type of alcohol called "whiskey", which people like to drink in Ireland and other places. The machine does this by heating up the corn or barley and turning it into hot gas, which is then cooled down and turned back into a liquid.

Aeneas Coffey's machine was really cool because it could work all day and night without stopping, so people could make lots and lots of whiskey to sell and drink. A lot of people liked his machine so much that they started calling it the "Coffey still", after Aeneas Coffey himself.
