ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Aerial cable

An aerial cable is a cord or cable that is hung up high in the air, kind of like a clothesline. It is usually made out of metal wires or other tough materials that can hold up heavy objects like electrical wiring or telephone lines.

Imagine you have a rope that you want to use to tie a bunch of balloons to your ceiling. If your rope is strong enough, you can tie it to something high up, like a tree branch or a hook in the wall. The balloons will hang from the rope, and you can use them to decorate your room.

An aerial cable works pretty much the same way, but it's much higher up and can hold much heavier things. Instead of balloons, it can hold up things like electrical wires, telephone lines, or even cable and internet cables.

These cables are usually strung up high above the ground, sometimes running from pole to pole, kind of like a tightrope. This helps keep them out of the way of people and cars, and also protects them from damage or wear and tear.

In short, an aerial cable is a strong and durable cord that is hung high up in the air to support heavy objects like electrical wires or telephone lines. Just like a clothesline, but much higher up and way more important!
