African-American English

African-American English (sometimes called Black English, African American Vernacular English or AAVE) is a type of English spoken by many African-Americans. It includes different words and ways of speaking than other types of English. For example, African-American English speakers might say "y'all" instead of "you all", and they might also use words like "ax" instead of "ask". African-American English is an important part of African-American culture.
