Afterburner

An afterburner is a piece of equipment installed on certain types of airplane engines. It works by injecting extra fuel into the exhaust stream, which causes the exhaust gas to burn hotter and faster. This gives the plane more thrust and power, allowing it to go faster or carry more weight. It's kind of like pouring rocket fuel into the engine, which makes it run faster.
