Airline Deregulation Act

Imagine you and your friends love to play soccer, but there is only one team that you can play against because they make all the rules. Sometimes the team doesn't let you play at all or they charge you too much just to play. This is what happened before the Airline Deregulation Act in 1978.

Before this act, the government told airlines what routes they could fly, what prices they could charge, and how many planes they could have. This meant that flying was very expensive and only for rich people. It was like having one big soccer team that made all the rules and no one else could play.

But with the Airline Deregulation Act, the government said that instead of making all the rules, the airlines could make their own rules. Just like in soccer, all the teams can now make their own rules and everyone can play. This made it cheaper for people to fly and more airlines could start up, which gave passengers more choices.

Now there are a lot more airlines and flights to choose from, and it's not just for rich people. Anyone can fly, just like anyone can play soccer. So, the Airline Deregulation Act was a very important change that made flying more affordable and accessible for everyone.
