assemblage (art)

Assemblage is an art form that uses every day items to create a sculpture. To make an assemblage, an artist will collect items, like pieces of wood, old buttons, bits of plastic, coins, and more, and put them together in a way that tells a story or conveys an idea. Artists make these art pieces without much or any planning and often it is from items that can be found around their home or neighborhood. Each piece of the assemblage tells it's own story, and when put together all the stories form a larger story about the world.
