Robert Rauschenberg

Robert Rauschenberg was an artist who made lots of cool and interesting things that you can look at. He liked to take everyday objects and make them into art. For example, he might take a trashcan and turn it into a sculpture. He also made what he called "combines" which were like paintings, but they had real things glued onto them like pictures from magazines or newspapers.

One time, he made a famous painting called "Erased de Kooning Drawing." He asked another artist, Willem de Kooning, for one of his drawings and then spent weeks using an eraser to rub away all the lines until it was just a blank piece of paper. Some people think this was a really important piece of art because it showed how artists could make new things by taking something that already existed and changing it in a big way.

Rauschenberg also liked to use technology in his art. He made these really huge prints called "Solvent" where he would take pictures and then transfer them onto big sheets of paper using a special kind of liquid. All of his art was really creative and different, and he had a big impact on other artists who came after him.
