Bosons are a type of particle. Particles are really small pieces that make up everything, like people, animals, plants, rocks and even the air we breathe. Bosons help us understand how the particles in everything interact with one another. They don't have any mass, so you can't really see them. But, when particles like protons and electrons bump into one another, the bosons help them understand each other. This helps them stick together and become the things we see around us.
