Airline seating sex discrimination controversy

In the past, airlines sometimes let families sit together for free, but women (usually mothers) and children had to pay for their seats. This meant that boys got to sit with their fathers, but girls had to pay or sit alone. This meant that boys got a better experience than girls, and it was very unfair. This also caused a lot of upset and anger because it was seen as meaning that boys were more important than girls. Thankfully, these days airlines don't do this anymore and everyone can sit wherever they want and have the same experience.
