ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Airmanship

Airmanship is like being a really good friend to the airplane! Just like how you have to be a good friend to people by treating them nicely and making sure they are safe, pilots have to be good friends to their planes.

When a pilot practices airmanship, they are making sure that they are doing everything they can to keep the plane safe and in good condition. This means they pay attention to things like the weather, the plane's instruments, and how the plane feels when they are flying it.

Pilots also have to use good decision-making skills when practicing airmanship. For example, if the weather is really bad, a good pilot will decide not to fly the plane because it might be too dangerous.

Another important part of airmanship is communication. Just like how you have to tell your friends what you are doing or what you need, pilots have to communicate with other people who are helping them fly the plane. This includes things like air traffic controllers, other pilots, and even people on the ground.

So, airmanship is basically how pilots take care of their planes and make sure everyone on board stays safe. Just like being a good friend to other people, being a good friend to the plane is very important!
