morbidity and mortality

Morbidity and mortality are two related concepts that refer to health. Morbidity is the rate of illnesses in a group of people. Mortality is the rate of deaths in a group of people. Put together, morbidity and mortality tell us a lot about the overall health of a group of people. Say for example you measure the morbidity and mortality rate in a county. The higher the morbidity rate is, the more illnesses there are in that county, and the higher the mortality rate, the more deaths there are in that county. So the higher the morbidity and mortality rate are together, the worse the overall health of a county is.
