Alaskan Way Seawall

The Alaskan Way Seawall is a big wall that keeps the water from the Puget Sound sea from flooding the streets of Seattle. It is located along the waterfront and is made up of big rocks and concrete.

The wall is really important because without it, the water could flood the roads, buildings, and houses near the sea. It can also keep big boats from hitting the shore and causing damage.

The seawall was first built more than 100 years ago and has been around for a long time. But over time, it started to get weak and needed to be fixed. So, people in charge decided to build a new and stronger seawall.

The new seawall is being built in sections and construction workers have to dig deep into the ground to set up piles, which are big posts that hold up the wall. Once the piles are in place, the workers put the rocks and concrete on top of them to make the wall. They also need to make sure the wall is smooth, so it won't be damaged by the waves of the sea.

It takes a lot of work and time to build the seawall, but when it's done, people will be able to walk along the waterfront without worrying about getting wet!
