Albinism is a condition where a person does not have the normal amount of pigment in their skin, hair, and eyes. This can make their hair, skin, and eyes lighter than other people's. When a person with albinism also has difficulty hearing or is completely deaf, it's called albinism–deafness syndrome.
Think of your body as a house, and the instructions for how to build it correctly are stored in a special book called DNA. In people with albinism, there is a problem with the instructions for making pigment, which can make it hard to see and hear properly.
We have little hairs on our ears that help us hear, and these hairs are very delicate. Sometimes the special cells that help these hairs work cannot grow properly when the instructions in the DNA are not correct, which can cause hearing problems.
So, people with albinism have a harder time hearing because there is something wrong with the instruction book for their bodies, which makes it difficult for their special ear hairs to work properly, causing deafness or difficulty hearing.
