ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

All-rounder (cycling)

Okay, so you know how when you ride your bike, sometimes you might go really fast and feel like you're flying, and other times you might go slower and need more energy to pedal? Well, someone who is an all-rounder in cycling is really good at doing both of those things- going fast and conserving energy when they need to.

In a big race, like the Tour de France, there are different types of stages- some are really hilly and require a lot of effort to get up, while others are flatter and faster. An all-rounder is someone who can do well on both kinds of stages, and doesn't have a specific strength in just one area. They can pedal up hills, but they also know how to stay in a group of riders and save energy by using the other riders to block the wind.

Think of it like being good at different games on the playground- maybe you're really good at climbing the jungle gym, but not so good at racing on the track. An all-rounder in cycling is like the kid who can do both really well!
