ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Allied Military Government for Occupied Territories

When two countries are at war, one of them might win and take control of the other country's land. Let's say that the country that won is called Country A and the country that lost is called Country B. When Country A takes control of Country B's land, they become what is called an "occupying power."

In order to make sure that things run smoothly in the land they have taken over, Country A might set up something called an "allied military government." This means that they will send a group of people who work for the military to govern the land they have taken over. These people are known as "military governors."

The military governors will be in charge of making sure that everything runs smoothly in the occupied territory. They might make rules that people have to follow, like new laws or regulations. They might also be in charge of making sure that people have access to things like food and water.

The military governors will work closely with the people who live in the occupied territory. They might listen to their concerns and try to address them if they can. But ultimately, the military governors are in charge and they make the final decisions about what happens in the occupied territory.

Eventually, when things settle down and the war is over, the military governors will leave and control will be returned to the people who live in the occupied territory. But while the allied military government is in charge, they will do their best to make sure everything runs smoothly and that people are safe and taken care of.
