Alta (dye)

Okay kiddo, so have you ever heard of dye? It’s a colorful liquid that people use to change the color of clothes or other things like paper or even hair! Well, alta dye is a type of dye that comes from a plant called the Lawsonia Inermis. This plant grows in hot places like India and North Africa, and it's also called the henna plant.

The plant has a special property that makes its leaves turn into a brownish-red powder called henna. When mixed with water or lemon juice, the henna powder turns into a paste-like substance that is used to create pretty designs on your skin called henna tattoos.

In some cultures, people use henna to dye their hair too! The dye can last for a long time and it’s not harmful to the hair or skin. And that, my dear little friend, is what alta dye is all about!
