ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Alternating custody

Okay kiddo, sometimes when parents get divorced or separated, they can't decide who gets to take care of you all the time. That's when they might do something called alternating custody.

This means that you will spend some time living with one parent, and then you will go and live with the other parent for a little while, and then repeat. It's like taking turns spending time with each parent.

This way, you get to see both of them and spend time with them, and they both get to take care of you and love you. It's important to remember that even though you might not be with one parent all the time, they both still love you very much and want what's best for you.
