AMBA is like a big flat top mountain that is formed when hot and melted rocks called magma rise from deep inside the earth and push up on the earth's surface. The magma then cools and hardens into a solid rock called granite. Over time, the granite erodes away leaving only the hard and durable cores, called batholiths, which are the main feature of an AMBA. Because of their size and shape, AMBA's can be seen from far away and are often used as a landmark for people trying to navigate through the landscape.
