Americans in Cuba refers to people from the United States who are living in Cuba. In the past, the US used to have a lot of people living in Cuba, but the US no longer has any formal diplomatic ties with Cuba since the 1960s. This means that US citizens cannot travel to Cuba for tourism, and that US citizens living in Cuba must receive special permission from the US government to stay there. Some Americans do still live in Cuba, however, and many of them are involved in cultural, medical, and educational exchange programs.
