Amidines

Amidines are like little monsters that have a special job - they help us make new medicines! You know how your parents use different tools to fix things? Well, scientists use amidines as a tool in their lab to fix molecules and make them into new medicines.

Now, let's talk about what amidines are made of. They are made of carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen - just like the building blocks you use to make a tower with your blocks. Except amidines are much smaller! They have a really cool shape that looks like a "T".

When scientists want to make a new medicine, they start with a big molecule that is kind of like a puzzle piece. They need to fit other pieces together with this puzzle piece to make the final medicine. But sometimes, the puzzle piece is too big or too small. This is where our little monster friends come in!

The scientist puts the amidine monster next to the puzzle piece molecule and then the amidine grabs onto one of the pieces of the puzzle. This makes the molecule the perfect size for the final medicine! Once the amidine does its job, it can go back to sleep until it is needed again.

So, in short, amidines are special little monsters that scientists use to help make new medicines by fitting puzzle pieces together.
