Amylolytic process

Have you ever eaten a yummy baked potato before? Well, before you can eat it your body needs to break down the starch in the potato to make it easier to digest. The process of breaking down the starch in foods like potatoes is called the amylolytic process.

It's like when you have a puzzle and you try to take it apart into smaller pieces. In the amylolytic process, enzymes in our saliva and pancreas work together to take apart the big starch molecules into smaller pieces called glucose or simple sugars. These sugars are then absorbed into our bodies and used to give us energy.

So when you eat that tasty baked potato, your body starts the amylolytic process to break down the starch and turn it into energy for your body to use!
