ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Anatolian Plate

Imagine you live in a big house with lot of rooms and different furniture in them. Now, imagine the Earth as a really big house with different pieces of land called "plates" that can move around just like the furniture in your house can move around (but it moves very slowly - you won't notice it moving in your lifetime!). One of these plates is called the Anatolian Plate, and it's located in Turkey.

Just like your furniture can sometimes bump into each other when it moves around, the different plates on Earth can sometimes bump into each other too. When the Anatolian Plate bumps into another plate, it can cause earthquakes, which can be very scary and cause a lot of damage.

But, the Anatolian Plate isn't all bad! It's actually home to many beautiful and historic landmarks, like the city of Istanbul and the famous Turkish baths. So, even though it can cause some trouble when it moves around, it's still a very important part of the Earth!
