Anatomical terms of bone

Okay kiddo, let's talk about bones! All of our bones have different parts and it's important to know what they're called.

First, let's talk about the long part of the bone that runs from your shoulder to your wrist. We call that your arm bone, or the humerus. The top part of your arm bone is called the head, which fits into a socket in your shoulder. The part that sticks out from the head is called the neck. The bottom part of your arm bone has two bumps, one on each side. We call these bumps the medial and lateral epicondyles.

Now let's talk about the bones in your hand. There are three bones in each of your fingers (not including your thumb). These bones are called phalanges. The bone in your thumb is called the phalanx. The bones in your wrist are a little different. We call them carpal bones.

Finally, let's talk about the big bone in your leg. This is called the femur. The top part of your leg bone also has a head, which fits into a socket in your hip. The part that sticks out from the head is called the neck. The bottom part of your leg bone has two bumps, one on each side. We call these bumps the medial and lateral condyles.

These are just a few of the anatomical terms of bones, but they're important to know so we can understand how our bodies work!
