Ancient Rome and wine

So, back in very old times, there was a place called Ancient Rome. The people who lived there really liked to drink something that was called wine. Wine is a special drink that is made from grapes.

The Romans were very clever and made a lot of nice things with wine. They made big vineyards, which are like big gardens with lots and lots of grape plants, and they also made their own special bottles to keep the wine in.

They made sure to pick the ripe, juicy grapes by hand and squashed them up until there was only juice left. They put this juice into big clay or wooden pots, which made sure that the juice stayed nice and fresh.

Then, they mixed in some special ingredients to make the wine taste even better. They let the mix sit and ferment for a long time, which made it fizzy and bubbly.

The Romans drank wine at all kinds of special occasions, like big parties or fancy dinners. But not just anyone could drink wine. It was only for the rich people and important people, like soldiers or rulers.

So, there you have it: Ancient Rome and wine. The Romans loved wine and made lots of it, and it was a very special drink that only certain people got to enjoy.
