Anglo-Burmese people

Anglo-Burmese people are people who have a mix of British and Burmese (Myanmar) heritage. Imagine if your mom or dad was from one place and your other mom or dad was from another place, then you would have mixed heritage too!

This happened because a long time ago, the British came to rule over Burma (Myanmar). They stayed for a long time and some of them got married to Burmese people and started families. After Burma (Myanmar) became independent in 1948, some Anglo-Burmese people stayed in the country, while others moved away to other parts of the world like England, Australia or the United States.

Today, many Anglo-Burmese people speak both English and Burmese and celebrate both British and Burmese traditions. They are part of the beautiful tapestry of cultures that make up Myanmar and the world.
