ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Anisochronous

Okay kiddo, have you ever played a game where you take turns with your friends? Let's say you are playing a game of hide-and-seek and you take turns being the seeker. Sometimes the turns might be really short, like if you find everyone really quickly, and sometimes they might be longer, like if it takes you a while to find everyone.

Well, in the world of computers and communication, sometimes things happen at different speeds too. For example, let's say you are watching a video on your computer and it starts to buffer. That means that your computer is trying to catch up because the video is coming in too slowly.

In technical terms, this is called anisochronous. It means that different parts of a communication system can happen at different times. This can be a problem because things might get mixed up or slowed down.

But don't worry too much about it, kiddo. Just remember that anisochronous means things happening at different speeds, and that can sometimes cause problems.
