ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Anisomycin

So, you know how your body has lots of little things called cells that help you grow and do all sorts of things, right? Well, sometimes scientists want to study those cells to learn more about how they work.

One way they do this is by using a chemical called anisomycin. This chemical can go into the cells and stop them from making certain proteins, which are little things that help the cells do their job.

By stopping the cells from making certain proteins, scientists can see what happens when those proteins aren't there. This can help them understand how those proteins work and what they do in the body.

It's kind of like if you were trying to figure out how a toy worked, and you took out one of the parts to see how it affected the toy. Anisomycin helps scientists do the same thing with cells.
