ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Annexation of Goa

Like when you were playing with your toys, some bigger kids wanted to play with them too. But instead of asking you nicely, they just took them. That's kind of what happened with Goa.

A long time ago, Goa was part of a big country called Portugal. But then India became independent and wanted their land back. But instead of asking nicely, they just took it. They said that Goa really belonged to India and the Portuguese had to leave.

So, India told the Portuguese to leave and the Portuguese didn't like it. But India was very strong and they made the Portuguese go away. After they left, Goa became part of India.

Sometimes grown-ups have a hard time sharing and it can cause problems. But it's important to talk things out and come to an agreement, instead of just taking something that isn't yours.
