ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Anti-proverb

Well kiddo, you know what a proverb is right? It's like a little saying that people use to teach you something. Like "a penny saved is a penny earned."

But have you ever heard of an anti-proverb? It's kind of like the opposite of a proverb. Instead of teaching you something good, it's meant to be kind of funny and a little bit silly.

For example, you know how people usually say "time flies when you're having fun?" Well, an anti-proverb might say "time crawls when you're bored to tears!" It's kind of like making a joke out of the regular proverb.

So an anti-proverb is just another way to use silly sayings to make people laugh or think about things in a different way. It's not really trying to teach you anything serious, but it can still be fun to use them in conversation sometimes.
