Antidune

An antidune is like a little hill that flows in a river or stream. When water moves fast, it can create ripples on the bottom of the river. Sometimes, those ripples can get really big and form a hill. This hill is called an antidune.

Imagine playing with sand at the beach. When you build a sand castle and pour water on top, the water does not go straight down but instead makes small hills on the sand. These small hills are like the bumps that make up an antidune.

Antidunes are special because they move in the opposite direction of the water flow. When the river water moves fast, it pushes the antidune forward. This can make the water move even faster and create bigger ripples, making the hill grow bigger too. It is like when you push a ball, it starts moving faster and faster.

Antidunes are cool things to watch when you are near a river or stream. They help us see how water can change the land around it.
