ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Antiseptic

Antiseptics are things that kill germs on your body. Germs are tiny living things that can make you sick. When you get a cut or a scrape, germs can get inside your skin and make it infected. But if you use antiseptics, they can help kill the germs and keep the wound from getting infected.

Some antiseptics come in a liquid that you can put on your skin, like rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. Others come in a spray or a gel, like hand sanitizer. Some antiseptics are used in hospitals to clean things like surgical tools or operating rooms.

It's important to understand that antiseptics are not medicines that can cure you if you're already sick. They are more like helpers that can prevent you from getting sick. Always ask your parents or a grown-up before using antiseptics and follow the directions carefully.
