Apoptosis-inducing factor

Apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF) is a molecule inside our cells that helps to get rid of old, broken, or not-working cells. It tells cells it's time to die and makes them break down into tiny pieces. Then, new cells can grow in the same spot. Imagine a garden: sometimes you need to pull some old plants out of the way so that new plants can grow to replace them. That’s what AIF does. It helps the body get rid of old cells and get new ones.
