ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Apoptosis

Apoptosis is a process in our cells that helps us stay healthy. It can be thought of as a way for our cells to take out the trash, or clean up the body. When a cell is damaged or not working properly, it will start a process called apoptosis. This process is like a mini-death for the cell, where it breaks down into smaller pieces, almost like when you tear something up. The pieces are then picked up and taken away by other cells, removing them from the body so that the body can stay healthy.
